Investigating the Role of Mycorrhizal Fungi in Enhancing Nutrient Uptake in Plants. MSC

Abstract:
This research project aims to investigate the role of mycorrhizal fungi in enhancing nutrient uptake in plants. Mycorrhizal associations between fungi and plant roots are known to play a crucial role in nutrient acquisition, particularly phosphorus and micronutrients. This study will explore the mechanisms by which mycorrhizal fungi facilitate nutrient uptake, including nutrient mobilization, increased nutrient absorption surface area, and nutrient transport within the plant. The research will involve both laboratory experiments and field studies, examining the effects of different mycorrhizal species on plant nutrient status and growth. The findings will contribute to our understanding of the importance of mycorrhizal symbiosis in plant nutrition and may have implications for sustainable agriculture and ecosystem management.
