The use of social media platforms has become an integral part of the daily lives of university students, shaping their language and communication patterns. This study aimed to investigate how the prevalence of social media has influenced the way university students communicate with each other, both online and offline.

Through surveys, interviews, and content analysis of social media posts, the research found that social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat have significantly impacted the language and communication behaviors of university students. Participants reported using shortened forms of words, emojis, and slang more frequently in their online interactions, which has also started to influence their face-to-face communication.
